It was Sir Geoff himself that suggested the quote "Well over the line" was all that was necessary for this limited edition print, even though the media and different fan groups continue the debate to this day.
Whenever Sir Geoff is asked about his second goal of the World Cup Final 1966, he just replies “Well over the line”. With a wry smile, giving this particular print an extra seal of approval from Sir Geoff.
“It was never a question in my mind and the fact I am still asked about it 60 years later is simply astounding to me. People love the debate but, to me, it was just one of four goals that saw us lift the trophy. Great day. Great memories.”
This limited edition print, personally signed by Sir Geoff Hurst, captures Geoff as the ball leaves his right foot on its way to scoring his second goal of the 1966 World Cup final, putting England ahead 3-2 against West Germany in the 101st minute of the match in extra time.
